Graduation Requirements

Northern Summit Academy offers a broad course of study that meets the graduation requirements of the State of California, Accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and our local Board of Directors priorities.  Students, with their parents and teachers, develop Personalized Learning Plans that meet graduation requirements and both personal education goals and interests.  To receive a Northern Summit Academy diploma, a student planning to graduate must successfully satisfy the following course/credit requirements:

All students are encouraged to be college and career ready through the many Northern Summit Academy, community, college, online, and creative learning opportunities that are available to the Northern Summit Academy students.  Learning opportunities support college, vocational, military and other post high school goals.  Students are provided Career Exploration classes and field trips, 10-Year Plan development, exploratory electives, and Career Technical Education programs.
 
Northern Summit Academy assists college bound students in planning high school courses that will meet the requirements of the schools or type of schools the students would like to attend after high school.  Students are encouraged to complete UC approved a-g courses and to enroll concurrently in community college classes.   Northern Summit Academy staff is available to provide academic and technological support for these courses.  Students are provided field trips to community colleges and universities.  The school invites the colleges and universities to information and financial aid workshops in the resource center.
 
Northern Summit Academy respects and accepts all high school credits from fellow WASC accredited high schools.  In addition, NSA works with foster youth under the guidelines of AB 167.
